The Washington State Department of Ecology has an opening for an Environmental
Specialist 5 in the Shorelands and Environmental Assistance (SEA) Program serving
as the wetlands specialist on the Multi-Agency Permitting Team (MAPT) in Ecology’s
NWRO in Bellevue, Washington. This is a full-time project position, with funding
expected to continue beyond next biennium.
This important Wetlands Specialist position is responsible for providing permit application review on the Section 401 Federal Clean Water Act application packages from WSDOT, implementing requirements of the Act, state laws and agency policies and practices; and developing comment letters in coordination with other Ecology technical staff. The Specialist provides permitting technical assistance to WSDOT such as: verifying delineated wetland boundaries, confirming wetland ratings and function assessments, analyzing impact assessments, assisting with wetland mitigation site selection when needed, consulting on and approving wetland mitigation plans; educating WSDOT on Ecology wetland policy and regulatory issues.
We are looking for candidates with a strong interest in working with a multi-agency team to achieve wetlands protection on transportation projects. Our ideal candidate will have educational and practical experience in wetlands protection and regulatory/permitting work; demonstrated verbal and written communication skills; project management skills; and strong analytical abilities. She or he will have experience reviewing and understanding complex technical documents; conducting site visits and providing technical assistance.

mid-level Wetlands, Fisheries, and Environmental Scientists for our Tacoma office.
Full and part-time positions are being offered. Grette Associates is a dynamic
environmental consulting firm specializing in natural resource assessments and
permitting compliance throughout the Puget
Sound and the greater Pacific Northwest region. We provide services on a wide
range of environmental projects, from individual field studies to large-scale
inventories, conceptual design, permitting, construction, and monitoring of

The successful candidates must have excellent writing, communication, and organizational
skills, and be capable of reliably performing field surveys in a variety of
challenging environments. A solid understanding of Pacific Northwest ecosystems,

Paid Internship - Fort Lewis Fish and Wildlife Program

We are seeking a motivated individual who is looking to obtain a wide variety of skills in the biological field.
Description:
40/hrs per week (all in the field), Tue-Fri from March-June 2007
Compensation is dependent on level of education and is provided in the form
of a stipend. You must be dependable, capable, and willing to follow instructions
from field supervisors.
Requirements:
A background in Biology, environmental studies or related field is desired.
Must be able to apply herbicides. Must be capable of working long field days
(10 hours/day). Must be able to work in a variety of environmental and weather
conditions and in rough terrain. Must be able to carry a 50 pound pack over
distance. Must feel comfortable working around military operations, personnel
and associated training activities such as being in safe proximity to firing
ranges, artillery firing, and soldiers bearing arms. Must be capable of starting
and using a chainsaw and brush-cutter for an entire day.
Raptor surveys - Invasive species control using backpack sprayers (herbicides
and manual control) - Selective timber marking - Native prairie and riparian
